Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Greatwoods Zen aspires in all ways to grow a community refuge for all people. We are unequivocally dedicated to antiracism work, white awareness training, and supporting BIPOC empowered initiatives. We strive to continue offering a refuge for all our LGBTQIA and gender diverse friends, and we ensure that our current and future buildings, including bathrooms are accessible to those with mobility limitations.

Mindfulness Research News

A recent study published in JAMA Psychiatry showed that an 8-week mindfulness-based course had comparable effectiveness in treating anxiety as a common anti-anxiety medication.

Another recent research study in JAMA Psychiatry discovered that people who studied mindfulness for 8 weeks with a counselor experienced a 17.5% greater improvement in depressive symptoms than those who received cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a standard treatment for depression.

Meditation Funnies of the Month

A cartoon illustration of two monks in red robes in a temple. One monk is apologizing, saying, 'I've never met anyone so thoughtless in my life. Keep up the good work.' The other monk is thanking, saying, 'Thank you, master.' In the background, a small golden Buddha statue is visible, and there are meditation cushions on the floor.
